Overview of Role

To support the legal metrological accuracy of our smart metering products by operating as a
Trainee Verification Officer within the Global Compliance & Quality Assurance team.
Through structured training and supervision, the successful candidate will develop the
capability to perform critical meter verification activities and ensure ongoing compliance
with SANAS, NRCS, ISO/IEC 17025, ISO 9001, and SANS/IEC requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Meter Verification and Calibration: Assist with routine meter verification and testing under supervision. Learn and progressively perform verification activities according to approved procedures and applicable SANS/IEC/NRCS requirements.
  • Quality Assurance and Regulatory Compliance: Receive training on ISO 9001, ISO/IEC 17025, SANAS, NRCS, and applicable metrology requirements. Follow approved SOPs, laboratory controls, and measurement traceability requirements.
  • Laboratory and Equipment Management:Assist with equipment checks, calibration status monitoring, and laboratory environmental monitoring.
  • Data Analysis and LIMS Reporting: Accurately capture verification results and learn to analyse and interpret test data. Maintain complete and traceable records in LIMS or the approved laboratory database.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to improve verification process efficiency and effectiveness. Assist with the validation of new testing methods and equipment.
  • Ad-Hoc Duties: Complete all required metrology training and perform assigned laboratoryand documentation duties within the trainee program.


Qualification

  • Grade 12/Matric is mandatory. 
  • Diploma, Degree, BTech, N6, orother relevant technical qualification in Electrical Engineering (Light Current),Metrology, Electronics, Instrumentation, or a related technical field is advantageous but not mandatory.


Experience

  • No formal verification or calibration laboratory experience is required; however, previous laboratory, manufacturing, technical, quality, or metrologyrelated exposure will be advantageous.


Personal Characteristics

  • Previous formal training in ISO/IEC 17025 (Laboratory Competence), ISO 9001 (Quality Management Systems), metrology, or verification is highly advantageous.
  • The successful candidate will receive structured on-the-job training and mentoring toward full competency and certification requirements.
