Overview of Role

The core purpose of the Product and Service Quality Assurance Engineer is to manage and guarantee the quality of smart water meters throughout their entire lifecycle, spanning from initial design to customer use. By strengthening these processes, the engineer aims to minimize product defects, ensure regulatory compliance, and enhance overall customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities

  • Design and Standards: Participate in product design reviews and define the quality standards, inspection criteria, and validation plans for smart water meters and accessories.
  • Supplier Quality Management: Oversee outsourced manufacturing by conducting supplier audits, first article inspections, and continuous quality performance reviews.
  • Internal Quality Control: Manage goods receiving inspections, in-process assembly line checks, and final quality control of finished goods before dispatch.
  • Calibration and Compliance: Interface with the SANAS-accredited laboratory to ensure all products meet functional, metrological, and regulatory testing requirements.
  • Field Performance and Troubleshooting: Monitor field installations, investigate failuresusing root cause analysis, and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
  • Customer Support and Continuous Improvement: Analyze customer returns and complaints to drive continuous improvement initiatives across product design, manufacturing, and service.
  • QMS Administration: Maintain documentation, procedures, and records to ensure compliance with ISO 9001 and ISO 17025 standards, and support both internal and external audits.


Qualification

  • Bachelor's Degree or BTech in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial Engineering or similar)

  • Training or certification in Quality Management Systems (ISO 9001, ISO 17025 desirable)


Experience

  • Minimum 3-5 years' experience in Quality Assurance or Quality Engineering

  • Experience in electronics, embedded systems, electromechanical products, or smart metering environment preferred


Personal Characteristics

  • Knowledge of metrology, calibration and verification will be an advantage.
